The first time that I heard about a free ipod for an offer it sounded just as funny as the story above. Then, by buddy forced me (yes at gunpoint) to be one of his referral. So, i signed up for AOL for Broadband. By the time I was done registering for the offer, I had my friend calling AOL to cancel. (I took the gun) So, I finished the offer and that was it. Until, actual proof!!! my buddy got his ipod in the mail! So, at this point, I forced 5 people to sign up for an offer and bam..5 weeks later...a free ipod in the mail. I did not pay shipping and did not pay a cent for the offer to AOL. But, who knows...it was probably a scam and I will get a bill in the mail later this year. ;)
